Rawness Root

Design, Projects & Establishment
From land and first concept to a fully established living landscape.
Rawness Root designs and delivers private landscapes on Ibiza, with particular expertise in productive, edible and culinary systems.
Our work can begin with untouched land, an existing garden, a finca under renovation or an estate whose exterior needs to be reconsidered as a whole. We read what is already there, define what the property could become and bring together the landscape, infrastructure, construction and planting required to make it real.
Sometimes our responsibility is a specific culinary landscape within a larger project. Sometimes we are asked to take responsibility for the entire exterior.
The scope follows the property. The objective is always the same: a landscape that belongs to the architecture, works with the land and adds something meaningful to the way the estate is lived.
More than an Edible Garden
Rawness is deeply specialised in living culinary landscapes, but productive planting never exists in isolation.
A kitchen garden can begin with new terraces, soil preparation and irrigation before the first seed is sown. An orchard often depends on retaining walls, access and carefully prepared ground. A productive courtyard can bring together shade structures, paths and an outdoor kitchen. Chickens require a coop that feels integrated rather than added afterwards. Existing olive groves, fruit trees and agricultural terraces can be restored and brought back into the wider life of the landscape.
This is why Rawness Root works beyond planting alone.
We consider the complete exterior relationship between architecture, landscape, movement, water, soil, productive areas, ornamental planting and everyday use.
The edible system is our specialism.
The landscape around it is part of the same composition.

One Project. Many Disciplines.
Complex estates are rarely created by one profession.
Architects, builders, landscape contractors, stonemasons, irrigation specialists, carpenters, electricians, metalworkers, pool contractors and growers may all have a role. The quality of the finished landscape depends on those disciplines working together rather than solving their own part in isolation.
Rawness can work in several ways:
As Lead Exterior Project Partner
Rawness can develop the landscape concept, assemble the required specialists and coordinate the exterior project from design through implementation.
We manage the relationship between the different elements so that walls, terraces, paths, water, structures, soil, planting and productive systems develop as one landscape rather than as separate interventions.
Alongside Your Architect or Builder
Where an architect, project manager or construction company is already leading the wider renovation, Rawness can take responsibility for the landscape and culinary systems while integrating our work into the existing project.
We coordinate the decisions that cross the boundary between house and land: underground services, water, access, levels, terraces, exterior structures, kitchen relationships and planting.
As Culinary Landscape Specialist
Where another landscape designer is responsible for the overall exterior, Rawness can design and deliver the productive layer within that vision.
Orchards, culinary gardens, berries, vines, edible perennials, herbs, propagation systems and the Living Pantry can be developed as a specialist discipline while remaining coherent with the wider landscape design.
We adapt to the project structure already in place rather than forcing every property into the same delivery model.
What Rawness Root Can Deliver
Depending on the property and agreed scope, a Rawness Root project may include:

Landscape & Culinary Design
Site reading, spatial planning, productive zones, ornamental integration, cultivar strategy, orchard systems, kitchen proximity, shade, seasonal experience and long-term development.
Soil & Productive Groundworks
Terracing, soil preparation, organic matter, compost, productive soil building, drainage, bed establishment and preparation for permanent and seasonal planting.
Water & Irrigation
Irrigation strategy, storage, distribution, productive zoning, drip systems and coordination of water infrastructure with the wider property.
Exterior Construction
Stone walls, agricultural terraces, paths, steps, pergolas, trellises, retaining structures and other exterior elements required by the landscape.
Productive Structures
Greenhouses, propagation areas, nurseries, composting areas, chicken coops, garden storage and other structures connected to the productive life of the property.
Outdoor Living
Outdoor kitchens, dining areas, pizza ovens, shaded gathering spaces and other places where landscape, harvest and hospitality meet.
Planting & Establishment
Fruit and nut trees, vines, berries, culinary herbs, annual crops, edible flowers, perennial food plants and ornamental planting where it forms part of the wider design.
Sourcing & Project Coordination
Plant material, materials, contractors and specialist trades, coordinated through one coherent project direction.
This makes the proposition much bigger than garden installation.
Rawness can take an exterior from earthworks and infrastructure all the way to the first harvest.
Productive Land Beyond the Household
When the Estate Has More Land Than the Household Needs
Some estates hold far more productive potential than the household itself will ever need. Existing olive groves, vineyards, citrus orchards or other agricultural land may already contain the foundation for something more, while other properties may have the capacity to establish it intentionally.
Where the land, the product and the ambition make sense, Rawness can take responsibility for developing that potential under the Rawness Taste Label. We can restore or establish the productive system, oversee its cultivation and turn selected harvests into Seasonal Limited Editions such as estate olive oil, natural wine or other Pantry Goods that express a particular place, season and Ibiza terroir.
The owner remains connected to what the land produces, without having to become the farmer, producer or brand operator. Rawness carries the cultivation, product development and route to market, first within the Rawness Grow network and, where suitable availability remains, to a wider international audience.
One estate. One harvest. A finite expression of Ibiza's terroir.

A New Layer of Private Hospitality
For private estates that also operate as exceptional rental properties, the landscape can become part of the guest experience.
Many of Ibiza’s most considered private homes already provide a private chef, beautiful kitchens, outdoor dining and highly personalised hospitality. Rawness can add another layer: the ingredients themselves growing on the estate.
A chef can step outside for intensely aromatic herbs, cut crisp leaves and edible flowers moments before service, or work with rare heirloom cultivars in colours, textures and expressions of flavour rarely encountered through conventional sourcing. The landscape becomes an extension of the kitchen, giving the chef a living gastronomic palette that changes with the season and can shape the menu around what is at its most expressive that day. Guests experience provenance not as something written on a menu, but as something they can walk through, smell, touch and taste.
This brings an expression of farm-to-table hospitality into the privacy of the estate itself, creating a culinary experience that begins in the landscape rather than at the kitchen door.
For owners who rent their property, Rawness can design and establish this productive layer as part of the wider estate experience, then continue to steward it through Rawness Grow whether the property is occupied by the owner, guests or temporarily empty.
The private chef is already there. The missing ingredient may be growing outside the kitchen.

Designed for Now. Planned for What Comes Next.
Trees expand. Shade moves. Roots deepen. Fruit begins to mature. Productive areas change with the seasons, while the relationship between kitchen and landscape becomes clearer through actual use.
Rawness therefore designs in both space and time.
A newly established landscape should already feel intentional and useful, while allowing orchards, perennial systems, soil and the broader composition to mature over years.
What performs exceptionally may later be propagated. What proves poorly suited can be replaced. An underused area can acquire another function. A young orchard gradually becomes structural landscape.
The project is established once. The living system continues to develop.
That is exactly consistent with the Rawness principle that the landscape is productive from the beginning but never treated as permanently finished.
Root Leads to Grow
Once the landscape has been established, a different kind of work begins.
Rawness Grow can remain responsible as the property’s Private Culinary Gardeners, carrying the horticultural complexity through the seasons: propagation, succession, soil care, irrigation observation, perennial management, cultivar development and harvest readiness.
ROOT builds the foundation.
GROW keeps it alive.
And when suitable harvests deserve another expression, TASTE can take them beyond the fresh season.

Begin with the Land
Every property has something different to work with: existing trees, neglected ground, old terraces, productive land, unfinished gardens, water, stone, architecture or simply space that has never been given a clear purpose.
Rawness begins by understanding what is already there, how the property is lived and what the land is capable of becoming. From there, we can shape the exterior around the house, bring existing ground back into productive use, develop new culinary landscapes or give larger areas of land a coherent role within the estate.
You do not need to arrive with a finished brief. Show us the property. Tell us how you want to live with it. We will begin with the land.
